2N Wiegand Module with EvTrack Wiegand/RS232 Converter

Overview

When using the EvTrack Wiegand/RS232 converter with a compatible RS232 Qr Code/Barcode Scanner any 2N Helios device can be Qr Code enabled. Our integration allows for offline operation and the database is synchronised to the device in realtime.

Required Hardware and Licensing

Instructions

  1. Configure Qr Code/2D Barcode Scanner.
  2. Connect the Qr Code Reader to EvTrack RS232/Wiegand Converter
  3. Connected the EvTrack RS232 to Wiegand Output GND, D0 and D1 to the 2N Wiegand Module GND, D0 and D1.

Step 1: Configure Qr Code/2D Barcode Scanner for RS232 operation and enable Terminating Character Suffix CRLF (0x0D0A)

By Default, the Newland Devices are configured for CRLF (0x0D0A) Terminating Character Suffix but the baud rate of 9600 bps needs to be configured.

  • Terminating Character Suffix: CRLF (0x0D0A) or (Carriage Return (ASCII 13, \r ) Line Feed (ASCII 10, \n ))
  • Baudrate: 9600 bps
  • Parity Check: None
  • Data Bits: 8
  • Stop Bits: 1
  • Hardware Auto Flow Control: No Flow Control
Step 1.1: Factory Reset Device (Optional)

Step 1.2: Enter Newland Device Setup Mode

Step 1.3: Set 9600 Buad

Step 1.4: Set Sense Mode

Step 1.5: Set Sense Timeout 1600ms

Step 1.6: Finish

Step 2: EvTrack RS232 to Wiegand Interface Converter Module

  1. Provide 9-36VDC Power to the EvTrack Wiegand to RS232 Converter
  2. Connect the Qr Code Device directly via DB9 RS232 port or a custom cable to the RJ45 port.
  3. The 5VDC Output on the RS232 to Wiegand Convert can be used to power the Qr Code/Barcode Scanner

The EvTrack Wiegand Module provides RS232 and 5VDC Output on the RJ45 Connector, a custom cable can be made that connects directly between the converter board and scanner module.

Step 3: Connected the EvTrack RS232 to Wiegand Output GND, D0 and D1 to the 2N Wiegand Module GND, D0 and D1.

Please make sure to connect an external power source to the 2N Wiegand Module as per the following diagram:
